Whether you wear it up, down, long, or short, this is your guide for fun summer ‘dos!
Wear it short!
Summer is the perfect time to chop of your locks and wear your hair short and flirty. These upcoming months are hot and sunny, so reflect the seasonal changes in your hair. Consider taking the leap and getting some blonde highlights for your mane. The short ‘do and the blonde streaks make your skin glow and give you that fresh, read–for–anything look.
The look: The Flirt. Ask your hair dressed for the short cut with long bangs in the front. Sweep the bangs to the side, and get your hair layered in the back. At home, use styling gel through your hair to flip our the spunky sides. Blow–dry your hair as you sweep the bangs to the side, and for added texture in the back, use some pomade to spike it up a bit.
Beware! The short, banged look isn‘t for every girl. If you have a round, full face, avoid cuts (such as the one above) that enhance the spherical shape of your face. If you have a long, oral–shaped face, snip away!
Keep it long
So what is the cut for the girls with the round face? Don‘t feel jealous of the oval girls! You have your own array of styles to rock. Your best bet are ‘dos that fall below your chin and add volume to the top to give the appearance of elongation in the face. Round–faces sometimes do work with bangs, but keep them long, and swept to the side. Avoid one–length, dull cuts. Remember: layer, layer, layer! Layered looks add a dynamic look to your face and deemphasize its roundness.
Braids are back
Goddess braids and braided updos are all the rage in Hollywood and on the catwalk right now. Butterfly clips and scrunchies are so 1980s, and the new strategy of pulling back hair are braids. Wear braids small and a little messy to give you that “I‘m so sexy, I don‘t even need to try” look.
Wear it Wavy
Burning your hair with a straightener is out. Summertime is about naturalness and freshness. Wear your hair wavy, and use gel to construct waves with your fingers if your hair is being stubborn and lifeless.
Help! I have curly hair!
Good news, curly–haired girls. Curls are in right now because volume is in! There has been a huge upsurge in interest into thick, ethnic hair in the fashion world. Flat, bodiless hair is boring, and photographers and designers want models with big, beautiful, curly hair. It‘s all part of the Goddess look –– the celestial woman who has hair twice as big as her. So don‘t fight your curls, embrace them! Care for your girls with the wide range of curl care products on the market, and remember: always use a diffuser when blow–drying your hair.
Give me something really different.
You got it. Ever consider an Emo cut? What the heck is an Emo cut, you ask? Excellent question! An Emo cut is any truly unique ‘do that falls outside the –– yawn –– mainstream hairstyles. Ever see a girl with long bangs in front and spiked hair in the back? She‘s an Emo girl. How about dyed black hair and straight bangs? Emo haircut. The fun part of Emo cuts is that you can go crazy with cut angles and hair dye. The sky is the limit when you embrace the Emo!
Remember: No matter what style you decide upon, make sure the hairstyle is true to who you are. If you‘re fun and flirty, go short for the summer, but make sure your outer appearance reflects the beautiful person you are on the inside. Enjoy the summer!
